Where does the acai bowl come from?
Acai is a palm tree from South America, which grows in the Amazon, among other places. Its fruit is a berry with pulpy flesh. Acai is becoming popular because its composition is rich in fiber, fatty acid, iron, omega 9 and omega 6.
The benefits of acai
The acai berry is nutritious thanks to its contributions in omega, fiber, proteins and minerals.
It is antioxidant and anti-inflammatory and also helps preserve cardiovascular health since it helps reduce cholesterol levels.
It also tends to facilitate transit and digestion due to its high fiber content.

Make your Acai Bowl at home
Ingredients
- 250 ml frozen blueberries
- 4 large frozen strawberries
- 125 ml (½ cup) plain Greek yogurt
- 125 ml (½ cup) applesauce
- 125 ml (½ cup) acai juice
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) oat flakes
- 1 apple, cut into thin slices
- 15 ml (1 tbsp.) granola of your choice
- 5 ml (1 tsp) maple sugar (optional)
Preparation
- Place the fruit, yogurt and compote in the blender container.
- In a small container, soften the oat flakes in the acai juice for about 1 minute, then add to the blender.
- Reduce to a smooth puree.
- Decorate with apple slices, granola and maple syrup.
